Utah County Sheriff’s Office identifies 2 killed in Provo Canyon crash

PROVO, Utah, Aug. 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has identified two people killed Saturday night when a vehicle rolled down a mountainside in Provo Canyon.

Four people were in a car about 10:30 p.m. when it drove off Kyhv Peak Road in Provo Canyon, rolled about 200 yards down the mountain and came to rest on its roof, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the car, Justan Carnales Navarro, 23, and one of the three passengers, Scarleth Fuerzalda Navarro, 24, were killed in the crash. Two other passengers survived with less serious injuries, officials said.

One of the surviving passengers said speed was a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
