WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 18, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcyclist died at the scene Sunday after a collision with a Washington County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.

“Deputies were responding to a vehicle roll-over on Old Highway 91 that occurred near mile marker 11,” the WCSO statement says.

“While en-route to location a deputy in a marked patrol vehicle was involved in an accident with a motorcycle near mile marker 15. The rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on scene.”

The name of the victim has not been released.

That happened at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The deputy was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released, the statement says.

“The investigation will be conducted through the Utah Department of Public Safety, Utah Highway Patrol.”

Officer-involved-critical-incident protocol requires a different agency to investigate when an officer is involved.

“The Washington County Sheriff’s Office expresses our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and everyone impacted by this incident.”

The driver involved in the earlier rollover accident was transported to the hospital and was later arrested for DUI by deputies.
