CORINNE, Utah, April 29, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Thhe Utah Highway Patrol released the dash-cam footage of a freeway chase between troopers and a suspect driving a service truck loaded with tires early Thursday morning near Corinne.
UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said the incident happened just before 1 a.m. when one of their troopers observed a service truck headed east on SR-13 without tail lights. The trooper caught up with the truck as it entered southbound I-15 and attempted to initiate a stop.
The driver of the truck was only traveling 80 mph but would not pull over. As the suspect continued to drive down I-15, troopers were able to successfully set up spikes near 700 South and disable the truck’s tires.
The driver of the vehicle eventually slowed down near 2100 South, pulled over to the right side of the freeway and jumped out of the passenger side. He then went over a cement barrier and down an embankment to the west of the freeway and troopers lost sight of him.
Additional officers from Weber County Sheriff’s Office and Ogden City Police Department arrived to assist in the search and K-9s were used to help track the suspect’s scent, but the suspect was able to get away.
Kudos to the police. Truck vs patrol car? Must have been a scary situation for the officer. Good job officers for keeping us safe!
