WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Nov. 6, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service said a male described as a “violent fugitive” was shot by an officer during an attempt to serve an arrest warrant in a residential area of West Valley City.
The incident happened in the area of 3900 South and 5600 West at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday.
“We were serving an arrest warrant on a violent fugitive,” Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Mark Thomson told Gephardt Daily.
“It was an officer-involved shooting. All officers are OK, and the bad guy/suspect was shot, and is in unknown condition. He was being rushed to the hospital. Further statements will be out of West Valley Police, when we can.”
West Valley City police shared a few more details overnight, saying the man, from St. George, was in critical condition.
The subject had been armed with a handgun, and was attempting to flee through the back of the residence when he was shot by an officer, the WVCPD update says.
Gephardt Daily will share additional details as they are released.
