IRON COUNTY, Utah, May 20, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman was booked into the Iron County jail Saturday after she allegedly stole a truck from someone she knew, knocking him over with the vehicle, after he refused to give her a ride.

Lina Audra Mazur, 50, was arrested at 9:04 p.m. Saturday after Iron County Sheriff deputies found her in the driver’s seat of the vehicle that had been called in as stolen less than two hours earlier.

The male victim said Mazur had been on his property and had asked him to give her a ride to Cedar City, “but he refused since he was almost out of gas,” the affidavit says.

The two argued, and “he said she punched him and so he went outside to get away from Mazur. While outside he heard his chain on his fence rattling. He then heard his truck start so he ran over to the vehicle and saw Mazur in the driver’s seat.”

The man told deputies he tried to stop Mazur from leaving, and they fought over control of the truck.

“The victim said Mazur was trying to stab him with a blue pick, possibly a screwdriver.” The victim said Mazur backed up the truck, striking him with an open rear door and knocking him to the ground.

“Wilson then said he was laying on the ground, stunned and he could see she had stopped the truck a short way away from him. He then thought she might try to come forward and run him over, but instead she drove away.”

The victim reported the stolen vehicle, and the truck was found about 20 miles away, in Enterprise, with Mazur inside, the affidavit says.

The woman told officers she had left in the truck because she was afraid the victim intended to hurt her. Mazur told investigators the victim had attacked her from behind, pulled her shirt against her neck, and attacked her on the arms with a hammer.

“No injuries were found on Mazur’s arms or neck area to match her statement,” the affidavit says. The victim’s injuries were documented, but he declined to be taken to a hospital for treatment, the statement says.

Mazur was booked into jail for investigation of:

  • Theft of an operable vehicle or a firearm, a second-degree felony
  • Aggravated assault, a third-degree felony
  • Ignition interlock violation, a class C misdemeanor

She was ordered held without bail.
