SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – November 4, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – San Diego police are responding to a community near downtown for what they described as an active shooter inside an apartment building using a long-range rifle Wednesday morning.
Multiple gunshots were fired in the Bankers Hill neighborhood just after 10 a.m. Witnesses said in the past hour, they’ve heard multiple gunshots as well.
There were no immediate reports of anyone injured.
The official SDPD Twitter account described the incident as an active shooter inside a building at 2445 Brant Street, Little Italy. They advise residents to stay away from all windows until further notice and shelter in place.
Curlew, Brant, Albatross, and Front Streets are closed between Laurel and West Ivy Streets according to San Diego Police, and they Tweeted that residents should stay inside and public should stay out of the area.
Police also said City Tree Christian School and Washington Elementary School are on lock down.
The department also Tweeted to all media: “For the safety of all officers please do not televise officer positions.”
