Nov. 11 (UPI) — Apple said Friday it’s working on a software update to fix user complaints that the new iPhone X screen becomes unresponsive when temperatures drop.
Some users said their phones became unresponsive or inaccurate in colder temperatures, and in some cases they had to lock and unlock their phones to fix the problem.
“We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment. After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again,” Apple said in a statement issued to USA Today. “This will be addressed in an upcoming software update.”
The latest iPhone, which retails for around $1,000, is the first to feature an OLED display.
USA Today reported some users also said they are seeing a green line along the edge of the screen.
Apple recommends people use iPhones and iPads between temperatures of 32 degrees and 95 degrees. Colder temperatures could shorten the battery life and cause the devices to turn off.
