FBI hopes to ID man in video near abduction of N.C. girl

Nov. 10 (UPI) — Police hope surveillance video will lead to the whereabouts of a missing 13-year-old North Carolina girl.

Authorities said they are looking at footage that shows a man walking near where Hania Aguilar was last seen Monday morning.

The FBI, working with the Lumberton Police Department, released the video hoping the public can identify the man. Aguilar disappeared outside her home while waiting for a ride to school.

“Someone knows this individual and we need you to call us with information,” the FBI said in a statement. “Maybe there is someone who recognizes the way the man walks or his mannerisms or maybe he will recognize himself on TV.”

Authorities found a sport-utility vehicle in the area on Thursday they hope will yield clues in the girl’s disappearance. A tipster told police they saw the SUV backed into the woods.

“[Aguilar] had gone outside just before her family left to drive to school,” the FBI said. “A witness heard her scream, looked outside, and saw a male subject dressed in all black and wearing a yellow bandanna force Hania into a relative’s vehicle that was parked in the driveway.”

Aguilar is Hispanic, 5 feet tall and weighs 125 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, and wore a blue shirt with flowers and blue jeans the day she vanished.

“Our search for Hania expands every second and it also becomes more and more dire,” the bureau said.

Anyone with information is urged to call police of the FBI.
