Fire crew douses classic car in Hurricane

HURRICANE, Utah, June 9, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Hurricane man was working on his mid-century classic car Saturday shortly before it caught fire.

Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue was called to the scene, initially described as a structure fire, just before 3 p.m., says a social media post issued by the agency.

“Prior to arrival crews were notified that it was a car inside of a garage that was on fire. Fire units were able to arrive on scene and quickly extinguish the fire in the car that had been moved out of the garage.”

The car’s owner had been working on the vintage vehicle, the post says, “then the fire started shortly afterward. Luckily, some bystanders came to help the owner move the car out of the garage before it extended to the structure.

One person was treated for minor injuries, and released.

No damage estimate was released.

Hurricane City police also responded to the scene.
