PARIS, May 28 (UPI) — Ten children and one adult were injured by lightning during an outdoor birthday party in Paris.
At least four children experienced life-threatening injuries, according to reports from Mirror and BBC. The children, between 7- and 14-years-old, took shelter under a tree in the city’s Parc Monceau Saturday afternoon.
At least one child needed to be given CPR immediately after the incident, reports said. Eye witnesses said the group was thrown several feet from they were standing when the bolt struck.
The afternoon storm halted other outdoor activities in Paris Saturday, including tennis player Serena Williams‘ French Open match against Kristina Mladenovic.
