NEW YORK, Nov. 20 (UPI) — Donald Trump‘s wife Melania and their 10-year-old son Barron will stay in New York after Trump moves to Washington, D.C., in January to serve as U.S. president.
The New York Post was the first to report the news. The main reason given for the decision was so that Barron could continue studying at his exclusive prep school in Manhattan.
“Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign,” a source connected to Trump’s transition team told the newspaper. “The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.”
“Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that’s needed as first lady,” a second insider said to the Post.
Trump has an adult daughter Ivanka, and two sons Donald Jr. and Eric, with his first wife, Ivana; and another grown daughter, Tiffany, with his second, former spouse, Marla Maples.
Trump married Melania in 2005.
