WASHINGTON, Feb. 22 (UPI) — A super PAC supporting Sen. Marco Rubio says that the Florida senator’s path to victory lies in defeating Voldermort — aka Donald Trump.
Conservative Solutions PAC emailed supporters Sunday night with a detailed comparison between Rubio and Harry Potter, painting Trump as he-who-must-not-be-named and the other GOP candidates as “horcruxes” — keys to Trump’s weakness.
“In Harry Potter lore, Voldemort, the Dark Lord, had a secret to his strength. His secret was his horcruxes,” the email said. “As each horcrux was destroyed, Voldemort became increasingly vulnerable, not increasingly strong. When all of the horcruxes were gone, Voldemort lost his one-on-one battle with Harry Potter.”
The message said that when each opposing candidate leaves the field — the most recent one being Florida Gov. Jeb Bush — Trump grows weaker.
“Extending this analogy puts Marco Rubio in the role of Harry Potter.”
Despite comparing Trump to the dark wizard who kills Potter’s parents and wreaks havoc on the wizarding world, the email has this caveat: “Note: we are not calling Donald Trump evil. This is an analogy, not a direct comparison.”
The email ends with a promise that Conservative Solutions PAC will be “active in nearly every state that votes in March,” and a solicitation for donations from muggles and wizards alike.
