GETTYSBURG, Pa., Oct. 22 (UPI) — In a speech at the Civil War battleground at Gettysburg, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump promised he would heal a divided nation, while also threatening to sue the now 11 women who have accused him of sexual improprieties.
The threat came hours before an 11th woman came forward to publicly accuse Trump of forcing himself on her — and the Saturday press conference was more unusual than the others if only because the accuser is pornography star Jessica Drake, who said she met Trump at a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, California, in 2006.
Accompanied by feminist attorney Gloria Allred, Drake said Trump kissed her without her consent and later offered her $10,000 to have sex with him and promised she could use his private jet to return home afterward.
Trump was recently married to his third wife, Melania, when the alleged incident took place.
Trump has categorically denied all of the allegations against him, at timesĀ denouncing some of the women as too unattractive to raise his interest or hungry for fame. He has also lashed out at the media for reporting the women’s stories. On Saturday, Trump took his displeasure a step further, threatening to sue the women who have made public claims against him.
Trump previously threatened to sue The New York Times for printing the first public accounts of women who said they were victims of his unwanted sexual advances. The candidate has thus far not followed through on the threat against the newspaper.
In a speech that was previewed as the start of his closing argument in the campaign, Trump invoked Abraham Lincoln and outlined what the first 100 days of his administration would look like. But it was one line about the sexual harassment scandal that has overtaken his campaign that drew the most attention: “All of these liars will be sued after the election is over.”
Hillary Clinton‘s campaign criticized Trump’s threat.
“Today, in what was billed as a major closing argument speech, Trump’s major new policy was to promise political and legal retribution against the women who have accused him of groping them.”
