ELEPHANT NATURE PARK, Thailand, Oct. 17 (UPI) — A baby elephant at Thailand’s Elephant Nature Park was filmed rushing to the rescue of her human friend when he appeared to be drowning in river rapids.
The Save Elephant Foundation in Thailand captured video of volunteer Darrick Thomson being carried away by the river rapids and Kham Lha, a young elephant that formed a strong bond with the volunteer, running into the water to rescue her friend.
It’s clear from the video that Thomson was not actually in danger and was able to control his movement through the water, but the pachyderm appears to fear for her friend’s life and rushes to his rescue.
“This is can show us that, when we treat animal with love, they always paid love back to us,” Elephant News, a partner of Save Elephant Foundation and Elephant Nature Park, said in posting the footage to YouTube.
