Donnie Tyndall Fired Amid NCAA Probe
KNOXVILLE, Tenn., March 27 (UPI) — University of Tennessee basketball coach Donnie Tyndall was fired Friday due to an NCAA probe into inappropriate behavior during his time at Southern Miss.
Tyndall was involved with financial violations regarding giving aid to non-qualified academic student-athletes and academic issues with junior college transfers.

“It is disappointing that we have to take this action,” athletics director Dave Hart said in a statement. “It is highly likely that coach Tyndall will face significant penalties at the conclusion of the NCAA’s infractions process. We believe this decision is in the best interests of the University of Tennessee.”
Tyndall’s contract stipulates that if he is found guilty of the violations, Tennessee can refuse to pay his $3 million buyout, reports the Tennessean.
Tyndall will likely receive a suspension for the 2015-16 and could possibly receive a suspension for the 2016-17 suspension.
The athletics department is expected to hold a press conference at 10 a.m. Central.
