Utah lacrosse team ends season with loss to Duke in NCAA championships

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 11, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The University of Utah saw its season come to an end Saturday with a 19-7 loss to Duke in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championships.

Utah seniors Tyler Bradbury and Jordan Hyde both scored two goals, with senior Jared Andreala, junior Cody Hart and sophomore Ryan Stines also adding goals vs. the No. 2 Blue Devils in Durham, North Carolina.

Defensively, sophomore Nikko DiPonio led No. 19 Utah with three caused turnovers, followed by senior Joey Boylston with two.

It was the second consecutive appearance in the NCAA championships for the Utes, who won back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference championships and finished the season at 12-5.

The Utes set school records in single-season assists (147) and caused turnovers (169), while also tying for the most wins in program history.

Now in its third season in the ASUN, Utah has won at least a share of the regular-season title each year. The Utes won their first ASUN tournament title in 2023 to earn their first NCAA championship berth.

Utah is in its sixth season as Division I lacrosse program. The Utes are 46-34 (.575) all-time, with 34 wins coming over the past three seasons.
