IVINS, Utah, July 13, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 30-year-old woman died and two other people were taken to a hospital from heat-related incidents Saturday at Snow Canyon State Park.

Several agencies responded to a call at 3:30 p.m. about two people suffering from heat-related medical issues at Snow Canyon State Park, according to the Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department.

Both showed signs of heat exhaustion and were treated at the park before being transported to an area hospital, police said.

While first responders were attending to the two people with heat exhaustion, a passerby reported that a woman was unconscious a short distance away, according to police.

First responders located the woman but determined she had died, police said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of loss,” Santa Clara-Ivins police said in a news release.

“As temperatures soar, it’s absolutely vital to maintain a regular intake of water, especially when outdoors. Dehydration can lead to serious health issues, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke,” the release says.

“Remember, your body may still need water even if you don’t feel thirsty. Watch for signs of dehydration, like dizziness or excessive fatigue. Stay safe and well-hydrated.”

The woman’s death remains under investigation. Her name was not immediately released.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Clara-Ivins Fire and Rescue, and Utah State Parks also responded to the incidents.
