GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz., May 13, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — National Park Service officials have recovered a body in the Colorado River at Grand Canyon National Park.

NPS officials were notified Friday that a body was found in the Colorado River. Park rangers responded and recovered the body, which was transported to Lees Ferry and then to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The body is believed to be missing Santa Fe, New Mexico, man Thomas L. Robison, 58. The medical examiner had not confirmed the identification as of Monday.

Robison abandoned his personal vehicle at Lees Ferry and is believed to have attempted travel down the Colorado River on a wooden raft with his dog, NPS officials said.

His death remains under investigation.
