Driver stopped on SR-201 due to flat tire hit, killed by oncoming vehicle

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 16, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorist who got out of their car due to a flat tire on state Route 201 was hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle Thursday morning, police said.

The driver was stopped in the left lane on eastbound SR-201 just east of Bangerter Highway about 10:30 a.m. when another car hit them and the stopped vehicle, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Roden said.

Eastbound SR-201 was expected to be closed for about 90 minutes to two hours, he said.
