BAILEY, Colo., Feb. 24 (UPI) — A sheriff’s deputy was killed and two others were wounded during a shootout Wednesday morning in Park County, Colo., officials said.
The deputies were engaged in a shooting with a wanted suspect in the town of Bailey, about 45 miles southwest of Denver, at about 9:15 a.m. local time Wednesday.
It wasn’t immediately clear, though, what circumstances led to the shooting or why the suspect was wanted.
CBS Denver reported that the suspect was shot dead.
The two injured deputies do not have serious injuries, officials noted.
The gunfight is being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
