GILROY, California, July 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police responded to an active shooter situation at Gilroy’s Annual Garlic Festival in Christmas Hill Park on Sunday as the festival was just wrapping up its third and last day.

It was reported that multiple people were shot shortly before 5:30 p.m., Pacific time.

Police Chief Scot Smithee said in a press conference Sunday night that the shooter and three other people are dead and 15 others are wounded. He did not release any information regarding the condition of the injured victims.

Smithee said police also are looking for a possible second suspect who may have had a supporting role in the shooting.

Videos on social media appear to show people running from the sound of gunfire.

According to NBC Bay Area, a witness said she “saw a white man in his early to mid-30s firing a rifle that was ‘able to shoot three to four shots a second.'” She said he was shooting randomly from left to right.

Not long after the incident unfolded, the Gilroy Police posted the following statement on Facebook:
