TAYLORSVILLE, UTAH – October 31, 2015 – Gephardt Daily
A 14-year-old girl was hit and killed by a van while trick-or-treating in Taylorsville Saturday night.
According to Unified Police Department Precinct Chief Tracy Wyant, the teen was hit shortly after 7:00 p.m. while crossing the street with a group of friends near 5930 South and 2700 West.
Chief Wyant said the girl was heading east in a crosswalk on 2700 West when she was hit by the southbound van.
The teen – whose identity has not been released – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the driver of the van remained at the accident site and was cooperating with investigators. They say there was no overt evidence impairment was a factor in the accident.
