April 2, 2015 –  (Gephardt Daily) Variety is reporting that Disney is developing a new live-action  “Winnie the Pooh” movie, based on it’s own animated version.

The new film will focus on grown up version Christopher Robin.  Writer-director Alex Ross Perry ( “Listen Up Philip”) is set to write the adaptation.

Aside from the obvious fact that Disney is remaking many of it’s animated properties as live action films, the motivation for this might have something to do with Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment acquiring rights to the book “Finding Winnie”  by Lindsay Mattick.

The book tells the story of the bear that inspired the Winnie The Pooh character.

British author A.A. Milne was inspired by his imaginative son, Christopher Robin, to  write a children’s book about a boy named Christopher Robin, and his adventures with  various characters inspired by his son’s stuffed animals.  Christopher Robin Milne’s stuffed bear, originally named “Edward”, was renamed “Winnie-the-Pooh” after a Canadian black bear named Winnie (after Winnipeg), which was used as a military mascot in World War I, and left to London Zoo during the war. The name “pooh” comes from a name the young boy gave to a swan.
