SCOFIELD, Utah, July 15, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 46-year-old woman from West Valley City that was killed Friday afternoon when her car collided head on with a semi on State Route 6 has been identified.

A Utah Highway Patrol statement said Danyel Walton was driving the rear pilot car, a Dodge Dakota, for a wide load headed eastbound near mile marker 220 just after 2 p.m.

Walton crossed over the center and side swiped a Dodge Caliber traveling west before slamming head on with a commercial vehicle that was also headed west.

A black Ford Focus that was behind the Caliber swerved to evade the crash and received minor damage.

The occupants of the Focus were not injured. The two occupants of the Caliber received minor injuries, and the male driver of the commercial vehicle received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Walton died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

Troopers said the cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it does not appear that impairment, distracted driving, or speed were factors.
