WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Dec. 4, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters responded to a residential fire Monday afternoon at 4811 W. Kathleen Ave. (3885 South).

West Valley City Fire Department Battalion Chief Bob Fitzgerald told Gephardt Daily the fire was in an attached carport, where a trailer was burning.

Crews were dispatched at 3:36 p.m. and the fire was out within five minutes of their arrival, Fitzgerald said.

“The cause is undetermined,” he said. “We suspect it was electrical, but that hasn’t been confirmed.”

Fitzgerald said the fire was pretty much confined to the carport, which sustained considerable damage.

“With the carport and the trailer, damage is probably about $25,000,” he said.

No one was injured in the fire.

Fitzgerald said a unit from Unified Fire Authority also responded to assist, but was canceled because the fire was so quickly extinguished.
