HERRIMAN, Utah, Oct. 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Herriman 10-year-old has died following a near-drowning on Thursday.

Herriman Police officials were called at 11:18 a.m. and responded to the scene, a residence in the area of 12500 South and Moonlight Hill Court. The 911 caller indicated she had found her 10-year-old daughter in the bathtub and not breathing.

The mother immediately began CPR while on the phone with dispatchers. Arriving officers took over CPR until paramedics from the Unified Fire Authority arrived, a Herriman Police Department statement says.

The child was transported by medical helicopter to the hospital in extremely critical
condition.

“As was previously released, the mother indicated her daughter had not been feeling
well and was taking a bath,” the statement says. “There is no information to indicate that this was anything other than a tragic accident.

“Sadly, the child was pronounced deceased by medical personnel yesterday evening, October 4th. Due to the child’s age and out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be releasing her name or any other information regarding the circumstances of this incident.”

This remains an active investigation pending any findings by the Office of the Medical Examiner as is standard practice in the State of Utah, the statement says.
