Second man charged in Midvale homicide

MIDVALE, Utah, Sept. 12, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A second suspect has been charged in connection with a Sept. 3 homicide at an apartment building at 189 W. Plumtree Lane.

Christopher Bailey, 35, whose street name is Smoove, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and aggravated burglary, all of which are first-degree felonies. He was arrested Sept. 9 in Rose Park.

A first suspect, Jonathon Rodgers, 28, was arrested Sept. 9 in Ogden, and was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder.

The men are suspected in a shooting incident that left one man dead, one critically injured, and a third person unhurt.

The victim who was in the apartment but who was not shot told police that Rodgers and Bailey took all three victims to the living room demanding money and drugs, according to a statement from the Unified Police Department.

Victim Deondre Baldwin, 21, was shot in the chest and died at the scene. Victim Brennar Larson, 20, shot in the abdomen, was taken to the hospital.

After the suspects left, the third person in the apartment summoned police.
