Update: Suspect arrested in shooting death of Magna 18-year-old

MAGNA, Utah, Feb. 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — An arrest has been made in the death of Tristen Mogadam, 18, who was shot Thursday night in Magna.

The Unified Police Department tweeted Saturday night that detectives arrested a 17-year-old male on charges of homicide and aggravated robbery.

According to information from UPD, detectives believe this was a gang-related drug deal gone wrong.

UPD Sgt. Shane Manwaring told Gephardt Daily shortly after the incident that a call of shots fired came in at about 11 p.m. Thursday. When police arrived at the scene, at a home in the vicinity of Helen Drive (3190 South) and Julia Lane, they found Mogadam inside. He had been shot and was unconscious.

The 18-year-old was transported to Intermountain Medical Center, where he died of his wounds, Manwaring said.

UPD tweeted that although the shooter is in custody, detectives are still looking for accomplices who were present at the time of the incident.
