Navy IDs pilot who died in crash at N.M. Air Force Base

June 25 (UPI) — The U.S. Navy identified a pilot who died while performing a mission at an airbase in New Mexico on Friday.

Lt. Christopher Carey Short, of Canandaigua, N.Y., died when the A-29 aircraft he was piloting crashed while on a mission over the Red Rio Bombing Range, which is part of White Sands Missile Range north of Holloman Air Force Base, the Navy announced late Saturday.

No further details were provided about the crash, but the Navy said the “mishap” was under investigation.
