LOS ANGELES, March 18 (UPI) — Ashley Judd says she plans to take legal action against Twitter trolls who sent her vulgar and threatening messages during a Kentucky Wildcats game.

“I’m pressing charges,” the 46-year-old actress told the Today show Tuesday.

“The amount of gender violence that I experienced is absolutely extraordinary,” she added. “A significant part of my day today will be spent filing police reports at home about gender violence that’s directed at me on social media.”

The tweets stemmed from a comment Judd made about the Kentucky-Arkansas college basketball game Sunday, when she tweeted that Arkansas was playing “dirty.”

Judd, a Kentucky native, deleted the tweet and told the Today show that she could have phrased her criticism “differently.” But she said the remark unleashed a barrage of hateful and explicit tweets.

“When when I express a stout opinion during #MarchMadness I am called a whore, c***, threatened with sexual violence. Not okay,” she tweeted.

Judd said she didn’t think pressing charges would lead to any convictions but wanted to send a message.
