LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – April 21, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Our film critic Tony Toscano had a chance to sit down with Blake Lively and Michiel Huisman, the stars of the new romance fantasy film “The Age of Adaline.” The film tells the story of a woman who doesn’t age, and Tony asked Lively and Huisman about the concept of meeting a soul mate that comes from a different time.

“There are movies that have explored that,” Lively said. “It’s interesting because a big influence for our director [Lee Toland Krieger] was the movie ‘Birth,’ which is a very different movie than this one, but they explore the idea of if your soul mate was born in a different time.”

Tony also asked if the chemistry was there from the table read on, which caused laughs from Lively and Huisman. “No, we had to work very hard on it,” Huisman  joked. “We didn’t have a table read!” added Lively. “No, we were so lucky to have Michiel in this movie, because Ellis is a challenging character; he’s someone who is incredibly handsome and charming and philanthropic and wealthy and has this cool loft and cooks things, and she’s supposed to be charmed by this guy, but you have to, have somebody who none of that matters, if he was standing behind a curtain you would pick curtain number two.”

She also added that she has ties to Utah; her sister owns Johnson Mill bed and breakfast in Midway.

“The Age of Adaline” (also known as simply Adaline) also stars Harrison Ford, Kathy Baker, Amanda Crew, Lynda Boyd, and Ellen Burstyn. The film will be released on Friday, April 24 and is rated PG.
