FAIRFAX, Va., June 17 (UPI) — ManTech International, the federal government’s leading defense technology contractor, acquired the cybersecurity firm Knowledge Consulting Group for an undisclosed sum, the company said.

The deal is ManTech’s second cybersecurity purchase this year as Washington bolsters its cyberdefenses. In April, ManTech acquired Welkin Associates for $34 million.

“ManTech is a cyber leader, and the acquisition of KCG fits with our strategy of expanding into the growing cyber services and homeland security markets,” ManTech Chairman and Chief Executive Officer George J. Pedersen said in a written statement.“We are excited to add KCG’s talented people, trusted capabilities, and important customers to ManTech.”

Headquartered in Restin, Va. and founded in 2000, KCG provides cloud-security services to federal agencies that include the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice. The company’s 230 employees will join ManTech’s efforts to grow its cyber business.
