BOSTON, Sept. 8 (UPI) — New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady admitted Tuesday that he owns a red Donald Trump “Make America Great Again” cap.
“He sent it to me via R.K.K.,” Brady told Boston’s WEEI, referring to Patriots owner Robert Kraft. “He always gives me a call and different types of motivational speeches at different times. So now that he’s running for president, he sent me a hat, and he gave it to R.K.K. a couple weeks ago. So it found its way to my locker.”
Brady then elaborated on the pair’s friendship, declining to say whether or not he would vote for the real-estate magnate.
“I mean it’s pretty amazing what he’s been able to accomplish,” Brady said, adding that their friendship dates back to 2002. “He obviously appeals to a lot of people, and he’s a hell of a lot of fun to play golf with.”
On Friday, Trump discussed his affection for Brady and how the star athlete is happy after a federal judge nullified his four-game suspension over the DeflateGate scandal.
“Tom Brady is a very good friend of mine,” Trump said. “He’s a great guy, for those of you who don’t know him. He’s an honorable guy and an honest guy and a truly great athlete. He is really a very good friend of mine and I just spoke to him a little while ago, he’s so thrilled and so happy.”
