LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15 (UPI) — Suge Knight and Katt Williams have been ordered to stand trail for allegedly stealing a paparazzo’s camera in Beverly Hills back in September 2014.
A Los Angeles judge made the ruling Tuesday after prosecutors played a videotape in court that depicted Knight allegedly making threats towards photographer Leslie Redden after she took pictures of Knight’s young son.
“Why are you taking pictures of my [expletive] son?” Knight was heard yelling at Redden in the video of the incident played in court according to New York Daily News.
“Get that [expletive] over here. Get her [expletive],” Knight was heard ordering before the video went dark from Redden running away.
After she was chased down, Redden testified that she was physically attacked by an unidentified woman at Knight’s request while Williams walked away with the camera. “My head was going back and forth. My head hit a couple things,” she said. “Katt Williams pulled my camera right off my shoulder.”
“[Knight] never robbed anyone, and he never murdered anyone. He is completely innocent,” Knight’s lawyer, Thomas Mesereau, told People. “He never touched this woman, he never ran after her, he didn’t assault her. It’s a ridiculous case and he will be acquitted.”
Mesereau was also referencing the former rap mogul’s ongoing murder trial where Knight has pleaded not guilty to striking two men with his red truck leaving one, 55-year-old tow truck driver Terry Carter dead.
Williams and Knight have pleaded not guilty to the charge and will be arraigned on Oct. 27 according to the Los Angeles Times. If convicted, Knight could face 30 years to life because of a previous conviction for assault with a deadly weapon while the stand-up comedian faces a seven years sentence in custody.
