WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – November 20, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Police Detectives have arrested a man allegedly suspected of robbing four U.S. Banks across West Valley City in less than a month.
According to West Valley City Police Spokesperson Roxeanne Vainuku, 36-year-old David Hamson was arrested Thursday night after detectives have spent countless hours trying to identify the man who has been on a bank robbing spree across their city.
The most recent robbery happened just this last Wednesday, November 18, when a man walked up to a teller at the U.S. Bank located inside the Wal-Mart at 5600 West 3180 West and handed the teller a note demanding cash. The suspect then ran out of the store after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash.
Vainuku said the suspect description was very similar to several other robberies and they did suspect a possible connection.
The string of robberies started on Friday October 23, when a man walked into a U.S. Bank located at 4065 South Redwood just before 6 p.m. The man handed the teller a note demanding cash and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he ran out of the store.
Then on Friday November 6, a man walked into the same Smith’s located at 4065 South Redwood Road and approached another U.S. Bank teller. He handed the teller a note demanding cash and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect again ran out of the store.
Almost a week later, on Thursday November 12, a man walked into the U.S. Bank inside the Smith’s store located at 5620 West 4100 South and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied and the suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Hamson is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail on $70,000 bail and faces several felony charges of robbery and theft.
