NEW YORK, Sept. 2 (UPI) — Beyoncé and husband Jay Z showed their support for friend and tennis star Serena Williams on Thursday.

The 34-year-old singer and 45-year-old rapper attended Williams’ match against Vania King at the U.S. Open Tennis Championships in New York.

Beyoncé and Jay Z were all smiles as they cheered on Williams from the stands. The 34-year-old tennis pro beat King, tying Martina Navratilova for a record 306 Grand Slam wins.

“Usually when people are there, I try to play better, especially if they’re famous and they’re doing so great at their job,” Williams later told ESPN of her celebrity fans.

Williams, who appeared in Beyoncé’s music video for “Sorry,” recently showed off her dance moves again for Delta. The airline released a new promo this week featuring the tennis star and dancer Willdabeast Adams.

“We’ve known each other a really long time,” Williams said of Beyoncé in a June interview with the Guardian. “She says she loves when I dance ’cause I dance like no one’s watching.”

Beyoncé and Jay Z attended the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards with their 4-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, on Sunday. The singer stunned in a Francesco Scognamiglio dress, with Blue Ivy in a Mischka Aoki gown.
