SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Oct. 3, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Students of a South Jordan high school were sent home for the day Monday after an anonymous bomb threat was received via email, police said.

South Jordan Police Department Lt. Matt Pennington said officials at Paradigm High School, at 11577 S. 3600 West, received the threat to the school’s general email address at approximately 9:50 a.m. The email said the bomb would go off later Monday morning, Pennington said.

The school and about 10 nearby homes were quickly evacuated, and 3600 West from 11400 South to 11700 South was also shut down.

The West Valley City Police Bomb Squad sent dogs through the building and the school grounds and found no immediate threat.

The students were sent home for the rest of the day and school will resume as normal Tuesday.

South Jordan Police Department will now work with the WVC Police Bomb Squad to investigate the incident further. Pennington said the email was sent from a service called Guerrilla Mail, which generates random email addresses, making them difficult to track.
