18-year-old killed in Carbon County after truck plunges from cliff

CARBON COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 28, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18-year-old driver was killed in Carbon County Sunday night after his truck plunged from a nearly 200-foot cliff.

Donald Winter, 18, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, near Benches Road in Consumer Canyon, according to a news release from Carbon County Sheriff’s Office.

First responders were dispatched at approximately 6:15 p.m., the news release said. Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies located a truck that had gone off the cliff.

A passenger in the truck was transported by ground ambulance to Castleview Hospital in Price and treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

Police said the cause of the accident was likely weather-related, and alcohol and drugs were not thought to be a factor.
