SEVIER COUNTY, Utah, June 28, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Utah Division of Wildlife Resources employee died in a rollover crash in Sigurd on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The man killed was 31-year-old Jared Baker, of Hyde Park.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 2:40 p.m. to the single vehicle rollover at 1190 N. State St., according to a news release from Sheriff Nathan J. Curtis, Sevier County Sheriff’s Office. Sevier County EMT’s and deputies, Utah Highway Patrol and Richfield Fire Department responded to the incident.

“According to witnesses, the truck was traveling northbound when it went off the east side of the road, and as it started to come back on the road it began to drift sideways, and when it came back onto the pavement it flipped into the air and came down on the cab of the truck,” the news release said.

EMT’s responded to the scene but were unable to pull Baker from the truck. Richfield City Fire Department responded to extricate the driver.

Baker, the only occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene, the news release said.

He was a fish hatchery specialist, and was on his way back to Cache Valley from a delivery at the time of the accident. Baker was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but suffered critical injuries.

“Despite their best efforts the subject was deceased due to significant injuries sustained in the crash,” the news release said.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the accident.
