SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 28-year-old motorcyclist was taken to the hospital Sunday evening after he was hit by a car at 4100 South and 2700 West.
The crash occurred at about 6:52 p.m., when a Toyota Camry traveling southbound on 2700 West ran through the red light, Unified Police Detective Chuck Malm told Gephardt Daily.
The man on the motorcycle was heading east on 4100 South when he was struck.
Malm said the motorcyclist was in stable condition and was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
The 31-year-old man who was driving the Toyota will most likely face charges for running the red light.
Malm said it’s time for drivers to be especially alert for motorcycles, bicycles and joggers.
As the nice weather brings more people out of doors, Malm advises, “Be a lot more aware, avoid distractions, and keep your head up. This accident was preventable.”
