PROSSER, Wash., Aug. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A newlywed couple from Utah was killed Sunday in a pickup truck rollover in Washington State.
Amy Moffat, 28, of Provo, and Stephen Graham, 30, of Riverton, were killed in the single-vehicle accident, according to Washington State Patrol officials.
Crews responded to the scene, on Interstate 82 about six miles east of Prosser, at about 7:30 p.m.
Moffat had been driving the red Ford F-150 west, when the vehicle drifted to the left, then over-corrected to the right, rolling the truck. Both occupants were wearing seat belts, but died at the scene, officials said.
According to a post on the couple’s Facebook pages, they had gotten married in a mountaintop ceremony on Aug. 11, 15 days before the rollover.
“This weekend, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world,” Moffat posted on Aug. 13.
“I can’t tell you how much I love this man. I’ve never felt more loved, or have been treated more like a queen, than by anyone else in my life,” she wrote.
“Stephen is more than I could’ve ever asked for in a partner, in a lover, in a best friend. For now our marriage is until death do us part. But soon enough we can go to a temple of God and have our marriage sealed for eternity.”
Friends and strangers have begun posting messages on Moffat’s Facebook page.
● “So very sorry for the loss of this beautiful couple. May God wrap your friends and family in love and peace during this time. United forever in heaven ❤️,” one woman wrote.
● “I’ve been thinking about these two people — complete strangers to me— throughout the day,” a male poster added. “As I drove past the accident scene hours after it was cleared, my heart sank knowing two people so young, in love and with so much left to offer this world were taken so soon.”
● “This is just so sad, I’m so sorry to there families. God Bless,” another woman wrote.
Moffat worked as a nutritional therapy practitioner, and previously had worked at the Missionary Training Center and attended Brigham Young University, her page says.
Graham was a photographer, videographer and editor at Deity Components, which makes bicycling racing gear.
