WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Sept. 26, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters knocked down a residential fire Wednesday afternoon in West Valley City.

The call came in to dispatch at 1:28 p.m., Captain Scott Hall, West Valley City Fire Department, told Gephardt Daily. Firefighters responded to the area of 3100 South and 3800 West.

“There was heavy fire and smoke coming out of the second story and roof,” Hall said. “Most of the fire damage was contained to one back bedroom, but there was smoke and water damage throughout.”

The four adults in the home self-evacuated, Hall said. Two pet ferrets also were unharmed. No firefighters were injured.

Hall had no cost estimate on damage, but said the home was uninhabitable, and the Red Cross had made arrangements for a place for the adults to stay, he said. The cause of the fire has not been announced.
