SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A reportedly naked man ran from a Salt Lake City building under construction after crews extinguished a small fire early Tuesday afternoon.
Salt Lake Fire Department Captain Adam Archuleta told Gephardt Daily crews responded to a call of smoke from a commercial structure at the Blue Copper building, which is at 400 N. 300 West, at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Archuleta said a full assignment was dispatched; three engines, a truck and 16 firefighters, but on arrival crews found that there was light smoke, only visible from the inside.
There was a small fire inside the building that was extinguished in just a few seconds and some of the response was cancelled because of the size of the blaze.
After the fire was extinguished, a man who was reported by the Gephardt Daily crew on the scene to be naked, ran from the basement of the building. Archuleta said he had heard the man was not clothed, but he was not able to confirm that.
The man ran down 300 West after the incident and was met by Salt Lake City police, who gave him a sheet to wrap around himself.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and it’s not clear at this early stage whether the man who ran from the building is connected to the incident.
There was no one else in the building, Archuleta said.
