WEBER COUNTY, Utah, June 22, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire crews responding to an attic fire in west Weber County on Friday had the wind working against them.

“Last night, Weber crews responded to the report of an attic fire in the area of 4300 West 1400 South,” a statement from the Weber Fire District says.

“On arrival, they found a rapidly growing attic fire being fed by strong northerly winds. These winds made initial suppression difficult as they pushed the fire through the attic and greatly increased the intensity of the fire.”

Crews were able to enter the home and ensure all residents and pets were evacuated, “however, shortly after, had to go defensive as the structure became too compromised for safe interior operations,” the statement says.

“Our crews fought feverishly from the exterior and got the fire under-control in about one hour. We want to thank Ogden Fire, Riverdale Fire, and Plain City Fire for their amazing assistance in fighting this fire! We are glad all residents were safe, and we were able to get there rapidly and save much of their belongings. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
