SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City Fire Department crews wasted no time getting a large brush fire near eastbound Interstate 80 under control and extinguished early Tuesday morning.

The blaze, along 200 South between Orange Street and Redwood Road, was started by a vehicle that caught fire just after 1:30 a.m. The flames spread rapidly, and crews had to work fast to contain it and put it out. They gave the “all clear” within about 20 minutes.

SLCFD Capt. Adam Archuleta said there were no injuries, and he praised the firefighters for their quick action preventing the fire from getting out of control.

Archuleta said an investigator has been called to the scene to determine what caused the vehicle to ignite.
