PERRY, Utah, Sept. 22, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol has identified the body found inside a vehicle at a Perry rest stop Friday as a Montana man who had been reported as missing.
James Puuri, of Kalispell, Montana, had last been contacted on Sept. 14, a Saturday, according to his state’s missing person records.
“State Troopers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle at the northbound Perry, Utah rest stop off of I-15,” the UHP statement says. “When troopers arrived, they found the sole occupant, a deceased male, in a vehicle with Montana registration.
“The State Bureau of Investigation identified the male as 64-year-old, James Puuri of Kalispell, Montana.”
Montana records list Puuri’s age as 68. The Montana agency investigating his disappearance was the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
UHP says Puuri’s death is being investigated.
“The time and cause of death are pending results of an autopsy,” the news release says. There were no signs of foul play.”
