BOUNTIFUL, Utah, Sept. 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Bountiful Junior High was placed in a brief lockdown Tuesday while police tracked a man threatening people in a nearby park.

“The Bountiful Police Department responded on an individual in the Bountiful City Park with a knife who was threatening individuals in the park,” the department said online just after 5 p.m.

The high school was placed in lockdown for around one minute and then transitioned to a “Secure Protocol Procedure” while officers were dealing with the individual, police said.

While the school was in the secure protocol, classes continued without further interruption until the procedure was lifted.

“The individual is known to officers and has mental health issues,” police said.
