SPRINGVILLE, Utah, Sept. 25, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Springville Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the 2023 homicide of Michael “Mikey” Joshua Mayer.

“We know someone out there knows what happened,” the SPD statement says. “A $5,000 reward has been approved for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible in this senseless murder that took Mikey from his family.

“Anyone with information/tips can call 801-489-9421 and speak with Cpl. Mulford.”

Mayor was found on Nov. 19 of last year, a Saturday. Police were dispatched after a 2:54 a.m. shots fired call, and responded to a small apartment building at  216 S. 100 West.

“Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot, says a statement shared that day by the Springville Police Department. “The man was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he later died from his injuries.”

There was a lengthy standoff at the scene, and three adults ultimately were taken into custody, the statement says. The SPD released Mayer’s name a few days after his death.

“Springville Police Department wishes to express sincere condolences to the family of Michael Mayer who was tragically killed in Springville just before 3 a.m. Michael was 23 years old.

“At the request of Michael’s mother, she has shared pictures with us to release to the public and media on our platform. She described Michael ‘Mikey’ as someone who lived to serve others, and would do nearly anything for someone in need. He loved gaming with his brother, and fishing. Being a son, brother, and uncle, he will be missed by his family, who he cared about deeply. We send our thoughts and prayers to Michael’s family and friends.”

The news release issued today, Wednesday, asked everyone to share news of the investigation and reward.

“If you don’t have information, you can still help! Please share this post so we can get this to anyone who does have information. Let’s show everyone what Springville can do, together!”
