TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 13, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — An 11-year-old girl is dead after falling into an irrigation pond in the unincorporated Tooele County community of Terra.
The call came to dispatch at about 4:25 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Brandon Light, Tooele County Sheriff‘s Office, told Gephardt Daily.
“She was with another young man, a seven-year-old,” Light said. “He ran about half a mile to get some help, and he came back with his father and a neighbor. They pulled her out and started CPR.”
Despite efforts from the father and neighbor, and the first responders that rushed to the scene, the girl could not be resuscitated. Light said she was not transported to a hospital because she was beyond help.
Light said the circumstances leading up to the incident are still being determined. He says he does not know the relationship between the 11-year-old girl and the seven-year-old boy and his father.
“We’re still investigating,” he said.
