SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Aug. 2, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — More than 30 firefighters from multiple agencies responded Saturday afternoon to a house fire that left a two-story residence uninhabitable.
At about 1:35 p.m., crews from South Jordan Fire responded to the scene, on Rick Circle, as did crews from Draper and Sandy fire departments.
“There were reports that there were people, two people, that were on the roof that kind of overhangs the first level, like they had exited out a second story window,” said South Jordan Fire Battalion Chief Clay Miller.
“Ladder 61 from South Jordan arrived first, and immediately went into rescue mode and got those people off of that roof while the fire was burning, and then additional units had arrived and immediately went into an attack mode to put the fire out,” Miller said.
“We do not know what started it, but we feel confident that the fire started on the second floor, and that the people felt like they could not get out the front door through the main level, so they exited out onto that overhang, that roof overhang.
“We had 30 plus firefighters working, and one of the residents was taken to the hospital, in stable condition, as far as I know.”
There were no firefighter injuries, Miller said, and no pets were involved in the incident.
“The fire damage is severe enough that it’s not habitable right now.,” Miller said, adding that a lot of debris was found inside.
